The Good


Beautiful and enchanting, like the Guillermo del Toro version of a rom com.

The Bad


Doesn't do enough to justify its own premise. Michael Shannon's villain becomes a cartoon. The ending is a bit too fanciful, if that's possible.


Bottom Line

Full of delightful del Toro elements and wonderful main characters, but ultimately fails to deliver on its own promises.

I love GdT but this one didn’t do it for me. It didn’t “earn” its weird premise nor did it take it to the heights it promised. Full thoughts coming soon.
