Gringo

Aspires to be a multi-layered, madcap caper, but doesn't get even one layer right. There are many characters and twists in Gringo, but the script doesn't care enough about any one of them.

Thoroughbreds

A deliciously twisted comedy about teens, wealth, murder, and horses.

Annihilation

A cerebral and frightening film that doesn't settle for cheap monster scares. A movie with real themes to think and talk about.

The Dark Crystal

Henson and Oz took their artistry to new heights with this fantasy fable that really holds up, for the most part.

Game Night

A surprisingly funny high-concept comedy that gets two important things right: it plays to the strength of its cast and trades improv for plot.

Double Lover

An erotic and kinda psycho twist on the actor-plays-two-characters trope. Intense and watchable, but ultimately doesn't have much to say.
